Long Live McQueen: Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear [Paris, Part 2]

Those who love fashion are still in mourning over the untimely passing of Lee Alexander McQueen. This last collection that McQueen created was finished by the design house team. All 15 looks were presented in a somber 15-minute presentation in a gilded salon in Paris. The soundtrack that accompanied the models as they walked was an opera piece that McQueen listened to as he created this collection.
Everything was very McQueen-esque: the over-the-knee black boots with sculpted gold angels on the heels, skull caps with or without mohawks made with gilded feathers, and the marriage of the old (Renaissance art) with the new (silhouettes, drop-waist pleated dresses). Each look was breathtaking, completely thought out and beautifully detailed...reminding us that McQueen truly was an inspiration.

Right: A shoulder-embellished red cape floated away to highlight a red gown reminiscent of Annunciation images of the Virgin.

Right: The beautifully draped satin dress is actually not just a random print. The image is a digitally captured image of Jean Fouquet's 1450 painting of the infant Jesus and Virgin Mary. It was engineered to fit this piece.

Center: The back of the silk chiffon gown had outlines of angel wings. The print consisted of images of angels and dove wings. Heavenly. Right: Finale dress. So breathtaking.
